REGULATION UNDER THE WAR PRECAUTIONS ACT 1914-1916.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the War Precautions Act 1914-1916 to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of War Precautions (Prices) Regulations 1916.

(Statutory Rules 1916, No. 155, as amended by Statutory Rules 1916, Nos. 188 and 286; Statutory Rules 1917, Nos. 2, 5 and 224; and Statutory Rules 1918, Nos. 19, 59, 105, 130 and 205.)

Regulation 15d of the War Precautions (Prices) Regulation is amended—

(a) by adding at the end of sub-regulation (4.) the following words:—

“or if the retailer is allowed to add to the maximum price fixed in the proclaimed area a proportionate amount to cover the cost of transport to the shop of the foodstuff or necessary commodity—

(a) the maximum price fixed in the proclaimed area for the foodstuff or necessary commodity;

(b) the cost of transport to the shop of the foodstuff or necessary commodity from the place where it was purchased by the retailer; and

(c) the maximum price which the retailer is consequently entitled to charge in the proclaimed area for the foodstuff or necessary commodity.”; and


(b) by adding at the end of sub-regulation (8.) the following form:—

*Note.—This column to be used where the specific maximum price fixed for the area is not exceeded. Where the maximum price at the shop is ascertained by adding to the specific maximum price fixed in the area the cost of transport to the shop, the other columns of the form must be used.
