An Act to amend the Northern Territory (Administration) Act 1910-1931.

BE it enacted by the Kings Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—

Short title and citation.

1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Northern Territory (Administration) Act 1933.


(2.) The Northern Territory (Administration) Act 1910-1931 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

(3.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Northern Territory (Administration) Act 1910-1933.

Commencement.

2. This Act shall be deemed to have commenced on the date of commencement of the Northern Territory (Administration) Act 1931.

3. After section seventeen a of the Principal Act the following section is inserted:—

Rights of officers previously Government Resident.

17b. Any person who held the office of Government Resident under the Act repealed by this Act, and who—

(a) held office in that capacity immediately prior to the commencement of this section; and

(b) is continued in employment by the Commonwealth or any authority under the Commonwealth,

shall in such employment retain his existing and accruing rights arising out of his service as Government Resident and out of any service under the Commonwealth in which he was engaged immediately prior to his being appointed Government Resident and, for that purpose, his service as Government Resident or otherwise under the Commonwealth shall be included as part of his service in such employment..
