REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903‑1934.*
I, THE GOVERNOR‑GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903‑1934.

Amendment of Royal Military College Regulations.†
Subdivision.
1. Regulation 2 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended—
(a) by omitting from the particulars of Appendix IV. the words “under the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “for normal entry”; and
(b) by omitting from the particulars of Appendix V. the words “over the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “for admission as students under the proviso to regulation 5”.
Definitions.
2. Regulation 3 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended by inserting, next after the definition of “New Zealand Cadet”, the following definition:—
“‘Normal entry’ means admission as a student of a Commonwealth candidate who is not an applicant under the proviso to regulation 5.”
Conditions of eligibility (Commonwealth candidates).
3. Regulation 5 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended in paragraph (e) by omitting the word “nineteen” and inserting in its stead the word “twenty”.
Method of application (Commonwealth candidates).
4. Regulation 6 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended in sub‑regulation (2)—
(a) by omitting the words “over the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “who applies for admission as a student under the proviso to regulation 5”; and
(b) by omitting the words “for admission as a student”.

Documents to be furnished by Commonwealth candidates.
5. Regulation 8 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended in paragraph (b) of sub‑regulation (1)—
(a) by omitting the words “, if the candidate is under the age of nineteen years,”; and
(b) by omitting the words “a member of the Defence Force” and inserting in their stead the words “an applicant under the proviso to regulation 5”.
Selection of Commonwealth candidates (normal entry).
6. Regulation 9 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended in sub‑regulations (1), (2), and (3), by omitting the words “under the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “for normal entry”.
Selection of Commonwealth candidates (proviso to reg. 5).
7. Regulation 10 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended in sub‑regulations (1) and (2) by omitting the words “over the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “for admission as students under the proviso to regulation 5”.
Notification in Gazette.
8. Regulation 11 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended by omitting the words “under the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “selected for normal entry”.
Dates of examinations and admissions.
9. Regulation 12 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended—
(a) in sub‑regulation (1) by omitting the words “over the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “who are applicants for admission as students under the proviso to regulation 5”; and
(b) in sub‑regulation (2) by omitting the words “under the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “for normal entry”; and
(c) in paragraph (a) of sub‑regulation (3) by—
(i) omitting the words “over the age of nineteen years”; and
(ii) inserting, next after the word “students”, the words “under the proviso to regulation 5”; and
(d) in paragraph (b) of sub‑regulation (3) by omitting the words “under the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “for normal entry”.
Enlistment of Commonwealth candidates.
10. Regulation 13 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended by omitting the words “he joins”, where they twice occur, and inserting in their stead the word “selected”.
Seniority of cadets.
11. Regulation 21 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended—
(a) by omitting, next after the figures “21”, the figure “(1)”; and
(b) in proviso (iii) by omitting the words “are admitted” and inserting in their stead the words “have been selected”.
Length of course.
12. Regulation 28 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended in sub‑regulation (1) by omitting the word “admitted”, where it twice occurs, and inserting in its stead the word “selected”
Educational qualifications required of Commonwealth candidates for normal entry.
13. Appendix IV. of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended in the heading by omitting the words “under the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “for normal entry”.
Examination of Commonwealth candidates for admission under the proviso to regulation 5.
14. Appendix V. of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended—
(a) in the heading by omitting the words “over the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “for admission as students under the proviso to regulation 5”; and
(b) under the sub‑heading “(i) General”, by omitting in subparagraph (b) of paragraph the words “approved by the Director‑General of Medical Services”; and
(c) under the sub‑heading “(v) Forms used in the Examination”, by omitting in the sub‑headings of A.A.F.’s K.2, K.3, and K.7 the words “over the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “for admission as students under the proviso to regulation 5”; and
(d) by omitting the letters and figure “A.A.F. K.4(a)”, wherever occurring, and inserting in their stead the letters and figure “A.A.F. K.4”’
Instructions for the physical and medical examination.
15. Appendix VI. of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended—
(a) by omitting paragraph 8. and inserting in its stead the following paragraph:—
“8. The Deputy Director of Medical Services shall—
(a) inform the District Base Commandant of the result of the medical examination; and
(b) forward the proceedings of the Medical Board, in duplicate, with A.A.F. Dl and A.A.F. D4 attached, to the Director‑General of Medical Services for review and transmission to the Commandant, Royal Military College.”; and
(b) in paragraph 9. by omitting the words “over the age of nineteen years” and inserting in their stead the words “for admission as students under the proviso to regulation 5”.
