REGULATIONS UNDER THE CANNED FRUITS EXPORT CONTROL ACT 1926-1938.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Canned Fruits Export Control Act 1926-1938.

Amendments of the Canned Fruits Export Control (Staff) Regulations.

Variations of salary on account of variations in cost of living.

1.—(1.) Regulation 6 of the Canned Fruits Export Control (Staff) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (2.) the words “Adult females” and inserting in their stead the words and figures “Adult females and officers 19 and 20 years of age”;

(b) by omitting from that table the words and figures “Officers under 21 years of age” and inserting in their stead the words and figures “Officers under 19 years of age”;

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words and figures “Four pounds per annum in the case of adult females and Three pounds per annum in the case of officers under 21 years of age” and inserting in their stead the words and figures “Four pounds per annum in the case of adult females and officers 19 and 20 years of age and Three pounds per annum in the case of officers under 19 years of age”;

(d) by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (4.) the words “Adult females” and inserting in their stead the words and figures “Adult females and officers 19 and 20 years of age”;

(e) by omitting from that table the words and figures “Officers under 21 years of age” and inserting in their stead the words and figures “Officers under 19 years of age”;

(f) by omitting from sub-regulation (5.) the words and figures “Four pounds per annum in the case of adult females and Three pounds per annum in the case of officers under 21 years of age” and inserting in their stead the words and figures “Four pounds per annum in the case of adult females and officers 19 and 20 years of age and Three pounds per annum in the case of officers under 19 years of age”;

(g) by omitting from sub-regulation (6.) all the words and figures from and including the words “Adult males” to the end of the sub-regulation and inserting in their stead the words and figures:—

(h) by omitting sub-regulation (8.).

(2.) The first adjustment of salaries under regulation 6 of the Canned Fruits Export Control (Staff) Regulations, as amended by sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation shall be made as from the commencement of the first fortnightly pay period beginning in November, 1948, and shall be based on the index number for the six months ended on the thirtieth day of September, 1946, which shall be deemed to be 99.7.

The Schedule.

2.—(1.) The Schedule to the Canned Fruits Export Control (Staff) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from Table A all the words and figures from and including the word “Clerk—” to the end of the table and inserting in their stead the words and figures:—

(i) Typists under the age of 21 years may be paid an allowance at the rate of £12 per annum if able to write shorthand at the rate of 100 words per minute or £24 per annum if able to write shorthand at the rate of 120 words per minute and transcribe or type letters and the like with due regard to punctuation and form

 

 

 

(ii) Machinists under the age of 21 years may be paid an allowance at the rate of £24 per annum on passing such tests as the Minister approves

(i) Advancement beyond £246 per annum to be subject to passing such tests as the Minister approves

 

 

 

(ii) A minimum adult salary of £234 per annum shall be paid subject to the passing of the tests referred to in paragraph (i) above, with advancement to £258 per annum 12 months thereafter
