REGULATIONS UNDER THE BROADCASTING AND TELEVISION

ACT 1942-1956.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Broadcasting and Television Act 1942-1956.

Amendments of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations.†

Definition.

1. Regulation 5 of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations is amended:—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the definitions of “Controller of a Division” and “Director of a Department”;

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the definition of “senior officer” and inserting in its stead the following definition:—

“‘senior officer’ means any officer determined by the Commission to be a senior officer for the purposes of these Regulations;”;

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the definition “the Act”; and inserting the following definition:—

“‘The Act’ means the Broadcasting and Television Act 1942-1956;” and

(b) by omitting from the definition of “the General Manager the words “section 17” and inserting in their stead the words “section 43”.

2. Regulation 10 of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

Duties and responsibilities of senior officers.

“10. A senior officer shall perform such duties and have such responsibilities as the General Manager determines.”.

3. Regulations 20 and 21 of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations are repealed and the following regulations inserted in their stead:—

Divisions.

“20. The service of the Commission shall consist of such Divisions, Departments and Sections as the Commission determines.

Composition of Divisions.

“21. The Divisions, Department and Sections shall consist of such positions in the service of the Commission as the Commission determines.”.

Amendments consequential on renumbering of the Act.

4. The Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations, as amended by the foregoing provisions of these Regulations, are amended as set out in the Schedule to these Regulations.
