REGULATIONS UNDER THE TRADE COMMISSIONERS ACT 1933-1936.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Refutations under the Trade Commissioners Act 1933-1936.

Amendments of the Trade Commissioners Regulations†

Travelling allowance in Australia.

1.—(1.) Regulation 6 of the Trade Commissioners Regulations is amended by omitting paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in their stead the following paragraphs:—

“(a) if the maximum salary of the office held by the Commissioner does not exceed Seven thousand seven hundred and sixty dollars per year—at the rate of Twelve dollars fifteen cents per day;

“(b) if the maximum salary of the office held by the Commissioner exceed, Seven thousand seven hundred and sixty dollars per year but does not exceed Nine thousand four hundred and ninety-nine dollars per year—at the rate of Fifteen dollars forty cents per day, or

“(c) in any other case—at the rate of Twenty-one dollars per day.”.

(2.) The amendments of regulation 6 of the Trade Commissioners Regulation apply in relation to travelling allowance paid or payable under that regulation in respect of the fourteenth day of February, 1969, or any subsequent day.

2. Regulation 11 of the Trade Commissioners Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

Equipment allowance.

“11.—(1.) Subject to sub-regulation (4.) of this regulation, a Commissioner who, while performing duty in Australia, is required to travel on official duty to a place outside Australia is entitled to an equipment allowance of Forty dollars.

“(2.) Subject to sub-regulation (4.) of this regulation, the Minister may authorize the payment of an allowance of Forty dollars to a Commissioner who, while performing duty in Australia or at a post other than a post where tropical climatic conditions prevail, is required to travel on official duty to a place outside Australia where tropical climatic conditions prevail.

“(3.) Subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, the Minister may authorize the payment of an allowance of Forty dollars to a Commissioner who, while performing duly in Australia or at a post oilier than a post where cold

climatic conditions prevail, is required to travel on official duty to a place outside Australia where cold climatic conditions prevail.

“(4.) A Commissioner is not entitled to an allowance under sub-regulation (1.), (2.) or (3.) of this regulation—

(a) if he has received an allowance under that sub-regulation within the preceding two years; or

(b) if he is required to travel to a place for the purpose of taking up duty at a post at that place.”.
