REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1970.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1970.

Amendments of the Royal Military College Regulations†
Pay.
1. Regulation 46 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—
“(3.) From the pay credited to the account of a cadet under this regulation, an amount of Thirty cents for each day in respect of which the cadet is so credited with pay shall be retained as an accumulating credit in the account of the cadet.”.
Allowances.
2. Regulation 47 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:—
“(2.) Where a cadet admitted by way of normal or service entry—
(a) is not provided by the Commonwealth with a meal because he is travelling on duty during the course of a normal meal period;
(b) is not provided with the meal by any other person free of charge to the cadet;
(c) is not issued with a meal voucher in respect of the meal; and
(d) is not credited with travelling allowance in respect of the period during which he is so travelling on duty,
the account of the cadet shall be credited with meal allowance of—
(e) if the meal is breakfast—One dollar;
(f) if the meal is a midday meal—One dollar ten cents; or
(g) if the meal is an evening meal—One dollar forty-five cents.”.
Payments to cadets.
3. Regulation 50 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended by omitting the words “excluding payments credited to his account under” and inserting in their stead the words “including, in special circumstances, the amount retained as an accumulating credit in the account of the cadet in accordance with”.

Payment to cadet on graduation or discharge.
4. Regulation 58 of the Royal Military College Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulations:—
“(1.) The amount of the accumulated credit in the account of the cadet retained under sub-regulation (3.) of regulation 46 of these Regulations is payable to the cadet—
(a) one calendar month before the date on which he is due to graduate; or
(b) upon his discharge,
whichever first occurs.
“(1a.) The amount standing to the credit of the account of the cadet, other than the amount referred to in the last preceding sub-regulation, is payable to the cadet on graduation or discharge, whichever first occurs.”.
