An Act to validate the payment and collection of amounts under the Live-stock Slaughter (Export Inspection Charge) Act 1979 and the Live-stock Slaughter (Export Inspection Charge) Collection Act 1979, and for related purposes

BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, and the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Live-stock Slaughter (Export Inspection Charge) Validation Act 1984.

Commencement

2. This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

Validation

3. (1) In this section—

charge has the same meaning as in the Charge Act;

Charge Act means the Live-stock Slaughter (Export Inspection Charge) Act 1979;

Collection Act means the Live-stock Slaughter (Export Inspection Charge) Collection Act 1979.


(2) Where, at any time before the commencement of this Act, regulations were made under the Charge Act for the purposes of the definition of abattoir in section 4 of that Act, that Act has effect, and shall be deemed to have had effect, for all purposes, as if those regulations had come into operation on 1 January 1983.

(3) Section 8 of the Collection Act does not apply, and shall be deemed never to have applied, in respect of any charge that would not have been imposed but for the operation of this Act.
