EXEMPTION FROM DISPLAYING AN AVIATION SECURITY IDENTIFICATION CARD IN AN AIRSIDE AREA

 

 

I, TERASA CREMER, Acting General Manager, Transport Security Operations, Office of Transport Security, under regulation 3.08 of the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005, GIVE non-exempt persons whom are involved in VIP airside events at the 34 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force Special Purpose Aircraft Facility at Canberra Airport, an exemption from displaying an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) when domestic and foreign ‘VIP events’ are taking place. 

 

This Notice is subject to the following conditions:

  1. The exemption is only valid for routine VIP event occurrences between one hour prior to and not more than 30 minutes after each event.
  2. The exemption is only to apply within the Zone depicted on the attached maps which form part of this Notice.
  3. The exemption from displaying an ASIC is only granted to authorised personnel necessary for the conduct of the VIP event whom are approved airside access to the Zone by the 34 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force, Department of Defence to the Defence Establishment Fairbairn Special Purpose Aircraft facility.
  4. That airside access control and inspection measures are maintained in accordance with the approved Canberra Airport Transport Security Program (TSP).

 

Members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), or a visiting force on training, exercises or operations with the ADF that are in uniform or other role appropriate clothing on duty for lawful purpose and involved in the support or operation of the aircraft that are displaying a proper identification as a member of the defence force are exempt under regulation 3.06(2) of the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005.

 

For the purpose of this notice ‘Visiting Force’ has the same meaning as that defined within the Defence (Visiting Forces) Act 1963. For the purpose of this notice ‘VIP Event’ means the arrival and departure of domestic and foreign aircraft associated with the movement of domestic and foreign dignitaries, and airside planning activities approved by 34 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force associated with these events.  

 

This notice commences on 15 November 2015 and is valid until 12 March 2018, unless revoked in writing earlier.
