The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1  Short title

  This Act is the CounterTerrorism (Temporary Exclusion Orders) (Consequential Amendments) Act 2019.

2  Commencement

 (1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

2.  Schedule 1

At the same time as the CounterTerrorism (Temporary Exclusion Orders) Act 2019 commences.

However, the provisions do not commence at all if that Act does not commence.

3  Schedules

  Legislation that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1Amendments

 

Independent National Security Legislation Monitor Act 2010

1  Section 4 (at the end of the definition of counterterrorism and national security legislation)

Add:

 ; (g) Part 2 of the CounterTerrorism (Temporary Exclusion Orders) Act 2019 and any other provision of that Act as far as it relates to that Part.

Intelligence Services Act 2001

2  After paragraph 29(1)(cb)

Insert:

 and (cc) to review, by the end of the period of 3 years beginning on the day the CounterTerrorism (Temporary Exclusion Orders) Act 2019 commenced, the operation, effectiveness and implications of that Act; and

 (cd) to monitor and review the exercise of powers under the CounterTerrorism (Temporary Exclusion Orders) Act 2019 by the Minister administering that Act; and
