Foreign Judgments Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council and being satisfied, in respect of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, the Province of British Columbia (Canada), the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, the Commonwealth of Dominica, the Falkland Islands, the Republic of Fiji, France, the Federal Republic of Germany, Gibraltar, Grenada, Hong Kong, the State of Israel, Italy, Japan, the Province of Manitoba (Canada), Montserrat, Papua New Guinea, St. Helena, the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Republic of Seychelles, the Republic of Singapore, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu and the United Kingdom, of the matters specified in subsection 5 (1) of the Foreign Judgments Act 1991, make the following Regulations under that Act.

1.   Amendment

1.1   The Foreign Judgments Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

[NOTE:  These Regulations commence on gazettal: see Acts Interpretation Act 1901, s. 48.]

2.    Regulation 2 (Interpretation)

2.1   Omit the regulation, substitute:

Interpretation

 “2. In these Regulations:

Act’ means the Foreign Judgments Act 1991;

Privy Council’ means the Privy Council of the United Kingdom, and is taken to include the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.”.
