Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Regulations

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 1987.

Citation

 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Regulations.

Commencement

 2. These Regulations commence on the date of commencement of the Crimes (Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act 1990.

Interpretation

 3. In these Regulations:

the Act” means the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 1987;

UN Convention” means the United Nations Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, being the Convention referred to in, and a copy of the English text of which is set out in, the Schedule to the Crimes (Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act 1990.

Application of the Act

 4. The Act applies to the countries set out in the Schedule subject to such limitations, conditions, exceptions or qualifications as are necessary to give effect to the UN Convention.
