Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Regulations2 (Amendment)
I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 1987.

1. Commencement
1.1 These Regulations commence on Gazettal.
2. Amendment
2.1 The Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.
3. Regulation 3 (Definitions)
3.1 Insert:
“‘Party’ means a foreign country that is a Party to the UN Convention;”.
4. Regulation 4 (Application of the Act)
4.1 Omit the regulation, substitute:
Application of the Act
“4. The Act applies to a Party subject to the UN Convention.
[NOTE: States become Parties to the UN Convention by depositing instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession with the Secretary-General of the United Nations (see Articles 27 and 28). A current list of Parties to the UN Convention may be accessed through the United Nations Internet home page at http://www.un.org.]”.
5. Schedule (Countries to which the Act applies subject to the UN Convention)
5.1 Omit the Schedule.
