The Council of the Australian National University makes the following Statute under section 50 of the Australian National University Act 1991.

1 Name of Statute

1.1 This is the Academic and Ceremonial Dress Statute 2005.

2 Rules and Orders

2.1 The Council may make Rules or Orders prescribing academic and ceremonial dress for the University and related matters.

2.2 The Vice-Chancellor may also make Orders prescribing academic and ceremonial dress for the University and related matters.

2.3 If the Vice-Chancellor makes an Order under this Statute, the Vice-Chancellor must report the contents of the Order to the Council as soon as practicable after the Order is made.

2.4 A failure to do what subsection 2.3 requires does not affect the validity of an Order made under subsection 2.2.
