1 Name of Regulations

  These Regulations are the Child Support (Registration and Collection) Amendment Regulations 2006 (No. 1).

2 Commencement

  These Regulations commence on the commencement of Schedule 1 to the Child Support Legislation Amendment (Reform of the Child Support SchemeInitial Measures) Act 2006.

3 Amendment of Child Support (Registration and Collection) Regulations 1988

  Schedule 1 amends the Child Support (Registration and Collection) Regulations 1988.

 (3) In this regulation:

minimum annual rate of child support, for a calendar year, means the amount worked out in accordance with subsection 66 (4) of the Child Support (Assessment) Act 1989 as if a reference in that subsection to child support period were a reference to calendar year.

minimum rate, for a week in a calendar year, means the amount worked out using the following steps:

Step 1: Divide the minimum annual rate of child support for the calendar year by 365.25.

Step 2: Round the amount worked out in Step 1 to 5 decimal places by increasing the fifth decimal place by 1 if the sixth decimal place is 5 or more.

Step 3: Multiply the amount worked out in Step 2 by 7.

Step 4: Round up the amount worked out in Step 3 to the nearest cent.
