    1.                                  Name of Legislative Instrument
      1.                            This instrument is the Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 13/00 – Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles) 2005 Amendment 4.
    2.                                  Commencement
      1.                            This instrument commences on the day after it is registered.

    1.                                  The changes specified in Schedule 1 amend Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 13/00 – Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles) 2005.

 

 

Schedule 1

[1]               Clause 2 amend “...IMPLIMENTATION” to “...IMPLEMENTATION”.

[2]               Clause 5.5 amend to read:

“5.5. For cornering lamps, manufacturers may choose not to meet the requirements of paragraph 6.20 of Appendix A, in which case they must meet the requirements of clause 7.4 of this standard.

[3]               Insert a new clause 5.6 to read:

5.6. For front position lamps, manufacturers may choose not to meet the requirements of paragraph 6.9.1 of Appendix A, in which case they must meet the requirements in clause 8.4 of this standard.

[4]               Insert a new clause 5.7 to read:

5.7. Appendix A refers to several UNECE regulations for lighting components.  Read references to these UNECE regulations as references to ADRs as set out in the table below.  Where there is no referenced ADR in the table for lighting or marking components, the UNECE regulation referenced in Appendix A shall apply.

[5]               Insert a new clause 6.1.2.1 to read:

6.1.2.1. Where additional lamps referred to in 6.1.2 above are fitted on TD (O4) category trailers and are front position lamps or front retro-reflectors and the construction (the shape of the bodywork with equipment or accessories) makes it impossible to comply with the requirements of paragraphs 6.9.4.1 or 6.16.4.1 of Appendix A, the lamps need only be fitted as close as possible to the prescribed width limitation; and

[6]               Insert a new clause 6.1.2.1.1 to read:

6.1.2.1.1. In the case of front retro-reflectors, may be fitted to the equipment or accessories and if so may be either a device or material.”

[7]               Clause 6.1.3 renumber as 6.1.4.

[8]               Insert a new clause 6.1.3 to read:

6.1.3. Where the installation of equipment or accessories for operational reasons on TD (O4) category trailers would otherwise cause the apparent surface in the direction of the reference axis of front position lamps or front retro-reflectors to be completely and permanently hidden, such lamps need not be fitted.  In this case the additional lamps referred to in 6.1.2.1 above must be fitted instead.”

[9]               Clause 6.1.4 renumber as 6.1.5 and amend “...referred to in 6.1.3 above...” to “...referred to in 6.1.4 above...”.

[10]           Clause 6.1.5 renumber as 6.1.6.

8.4.1.5. Mandatory on trailers over 1,800 mm wide unless 2 side marker lamps complying with the requirements of ADR 45/… are fitted to the side of the trailer and positioned in accordance with clauses 7.2.1 and 7.2.2 of this vehicle standard or side marker lamps complying with ADR 74/… are fitted according to paragraph 6.18 of Appendix A of this vehicle standard.
