This Ordinance is the Christmas Island Legislation Amendment (2014 Measures No. 1) Ordinance 2014.
This Ordinance commences on the day after it is registered.
This Ordinance is made under the Christmas Island Act 1958.
Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.
Applied Laws (Implementation) Ordinance 1992
1 Title
Repeal the title.
2 Section 1
Repeal the section, substitute:
This Ordinance is the Applied Laws (General) Ordinance 1992.
3 After Part 36 of Schedule 1
Insert:
Part 36A—Shipping and Pilotage (Ports and Harbours) Regulations 1966 (WA)(CI)
1 Division 1 of Schedule 1A (after table item dealing with the port of Carnarvon)
Insert:
Port of Christmas Island | The area of water and land described in the plan for the Port of Christmas Island that is included in Division 2. |
2 Division 2 of Schedule 1A (after the plan for the port of Carnarvon)
Insert:
Importation of Dogs and Cats Ordinance 1973
4 Title
Repeal the title.
5 Section 1
Repeal the section, substitute:
This Ordinance is the Importation of Dogs and Cats Ordinance 1973.
6 Section 2 (definition of assistance animal)
Repeal the definition, substitute:
assistance animal means a dog or other animal:
(a) accredited under a law of a State or Territory that provides for the accreditation of animals trained to assist a person with a disability to alleviate the effect of the disability; or
(b) accredited by an animal training organisation prescribed for paragraph 9(2)(b) of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992; or
(c) trained:
(i) to assist a person with a disability to alleviate the effect of the disability; and
(ii) to meet standards of hygiene and behaviour that are appropriate for an animal in a public place.
7 Subsection 3(1)
Omit “subregulation”, substitute “subsection”.

8 Title
Repeal the title.
9 Section 1
Repeal the section, substitute:
This Ordinance is the Motor Vehicle (Third Party Insurance) Legislation Ordinance 2001.
10 Section 5
Repeal the section.
11 After item 10 of Schedule 1
Insert:
10A Section 7, heading
Repeal the heading, substitute:
7 Liability of approved insurer
12 Item 20 of Schedule 1 (section 34)
Repeal the section, substitute:
The Minister may, in writing, delegate any of his or her powers or functions under this Act, except a power vested in the Minister under subsection 8G(1) of the Christmas Island Act 1958.
13 Schedule 3
Repeal the schedule.
