Determination 2016/05:

Remuneration and Allowances for Holders of Public Office and Official Travel by Office Holders

(i)                     Pursuant to subsections 7(3), 7(4) and 5(2A) of the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973, the Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into the remuneration and allowances to be paid to certain holders of public office, and other matters significantly related thereto, and determines as set out below.

(ii) This Determination takes effect on and from the day following the day it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislation unless otherwise specified.

PART 1 – FULL-TIME OFFICES

1.1 In this part, Determination Number 21 of 2015 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

1.2 Table 2A of Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing the current entry for the “Administrator of Norfolk Island” with the following entry and placing it after the entry for “Administrator, Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands”.

1.3 Clause 1.2 commences on 1 July 2016.

PART 2 – PART-TIME OFFICES

2.1 In this part, Determination Number 20 of 2015 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

2.2 Table B3 of Schedule B of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following entry after the entry for “Health and Hospitals Fund Advisory Board”.

2.3 Schedule B of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting sub-clause B3.18 after B3.17 to the Additional sub-clauses of Table B3 as follows: “Inspector-General of Biosecurity: The daily fee is capped at 175 days per annum”.

2.4 Clauses 2.2 and 2.3 commence on 16 June 2016.

2.5 Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing the current entry for the “National Disability Insurance Scheme Launch Transition Agency” with the following and placing it after the entry for “Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation”.

2.6 Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing the wording at sub-clause A7 to the Additional Sub-clauses of Table A with the following:

“National Disability Insurance Scheme Launch Transition Agency: For office holders appointed prior to 1 July 2016 the following remuneration will apply, Chair $133,180 per annum, Member $66,600 per annum”.

2.7 Clauses 2.5 and 2.6 commence on 1 July 2016.

PART 3 – TRAVEL ALLOWANCE – OFFICE HOLDERS

3.1 In this part, Determination Number 11 of 2015 is referred to as the Principal Determination.

3.2 Part 4 of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing the wording in sub clause 4.2(b) with: “pay a motor vehicle allowance at the rate of 66 cents per kilometre where a private vehicle is used for the journey.  Any private vehicle used for this purpose must be comprehensively insured”.

3.3 Part 4 of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting Table 4A and its heading.

3.4 Clauses 3.2 and 3.3 commence on 1 July 2016.
