National Health (Claims and under co‑payment data) Amendment (Medication Chart Prescriptions) Rule 2016

I, Nick Henderson, Assistant Secretary, Pharmaceutical Policy Branch, Pharmaceutical Benefits Division, Department of Health, delegate of the Minister for Health, make the following rule under subsections 98AC(4) and 99AAA(8) of the National Health Act 1953.

Schedule 1—Amendments
National Health (Claims and under co‑payment data) Rules 2012 (PB 19 of 2012)
(1) This is the National Health (Claims and under co‑payment data) Amendment (Medication Chart Prescriptions) Rule 2016.
(2) This instrument may also be cited as PB 60 of 2016.
This instrument commences on 1 July 2016.
This instrument is made under subsections 98AC(4) and 99AAA(8) of the National Health Act 1953.
Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

1 Rule 4 [Definitions]
Before the definition of “authority prescription”, insert:
approved private hospital means a private hospital that has an approved hospital authority.
approved public hospital means a public hospital that has an approved hospital authority.
2 Sub-rule 13(2)
Omit “1 January 2017”, substitute “1 April 2017”.
3 Item 9A of Table, Schedule 1
In the table in Schedule 1, after item 9, insert:
9A | Drug Item Start Date | The date the PBS prescriber started prescribing the drug. Only required for a medication chart prescription in or at an approved private hospital or approved public hospital. |
4 Item 16 of Table, Schedule 1
Repeal the table item, substitute:
16 | Hospital Provider Number | The hospital’s provider number. Only required if the prescription originated in or at an approved public hospital or if the patient category is: Medication chart private hospital patient Medication chart public hospital patient Private PBS HMC Inpatient prescription Private PBS HMC discharge prescription Private PBS HMC outpatient prescription Public PBS HMC Inpatient prescription Public PBS HMC discharge prescription Public PBS HMC outpatient prescription |
5 Item 19A of Table, Schedule 1
In the table in Schedule 1, after item 19, insert:
19A | Medication Chart Start Date | The date the medication chart prescription commences. Only required for a medication chart prescription in or at an approved private hospital or approved public hospital. |

Repeal the table item, substitute:
