ARRANGEMENTS FOR STUDENT VISA APPLICATIONS 2017/011

I, DAVID WILDEN, Delegate of the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, acting under subregulation 2.07(5) of the Migration Regulations 1994 (the Regulations):

  1. REVOKE Instrument IMMI 16/017 (F2016L00630), Arrangements for Student Visa Applications 2016/017, signed 29 April 2016.
  2. SPECIFY for the purposes of subitem 1222(1) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations the approved forms in the Schedule to this Instrument.
  3. SPECIFY for the purposes of paragraph 1222(3)(a) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations the place and manner for making an application in the Schedule to this Instrument.

This Instrument, Arrangements for Student Visa Applications 2017/011, IMMI 17/011, commences on the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislation.

An applicant who:

a)   at the time of application is under 18 years of age; and

b)   intends to reside with a parent, a person who has custody of the student, or a suitable relative.

157A (Internet) with 157N;

If authorised by the department: 157A with 157N.

 

Application must be made:

i)   as an internet application; or

ii)   by submitting the application in accordance with the directions in the email authorising the use of form 157A, and with a copy of the authorising email, before midnight (AEST or AEDST when applicable) on the day following the date on which the authorising email was sent by (an officer of) the Department of Immigration and Border Protection; or

iii)   If the applicant is outside Australia the authorised application may also be made at a diplomatic, consular or migration office maintained by or on behalf of the Commonwealth outside Australia.
