Determination 2017/03:

Remuneration and Allowances for Holders of Public Office and Judicial and Related Offices

(i)                     Pursuant to subsections 7(3) and 7(4) of the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973, the Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into the remuneration and allowances to be paid to certain holders of public office, and other matters significantly related thereto, and determines as set out below.

(ii) This determination commences the day after registration on the Federal Register of Legislation unless otherwise specified.

PART 1 FULL-TIME OFFICES

1.1                 In this part, Determination Number 19 of 2016 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

1.2                 The Additional Clauses to Table A2 of the Principal Determination are amended by inserting the following at Clause 2.2.10: “Solicitor-General: While Dr Stephen Donaghue QC does not establish his principal place of residence in Canberra he will be paid an annualised amount of $34,500 per year instead of the daily amounts of travel allowance set out in Clauses 3.5 – 3.9 of Determination 2016/07 – Official Travel by Office Holders (or any determination that supersedes 2016/07) that would otherwise be payable for travel to Canberra, effective from 2 April 2017.

1.3                 Table 2A of Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting “2.2.10” in Column 4 of the entry for the Solicitor-General.

1.4 Part 5 of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting Clause 5.1.3.

1.5 Table 2A of Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following entry after the entry for “Chief Executive Officer, Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA)”.

1.6 Clause 1.5 commences on 3 April 2017. 

1.7 Table 3B of Part 3 of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the entry for The Hon Gary Hardgrave, Administrator, Norfolk Island.

1.8 The Additional Clauses to Part 3 of the Principal Determination are amended by numbering the clause for the Aboriginal Hostels Limited as Clause 3.3.

PART 2 PART-TIME OFFICES

2.1 In this part, Determination Number 18 of 2016 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

2.2 Table B3 of Schedule B of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the following entries:  “Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys Disciplinary Tribunal”, Professional Standards Board for Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys” and Australian Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation Authority Advisory Council.

2.3 Table B3 of Schedule B of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following entries after the entry for the “Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) – Chief Commissioner and Commissioners”.

2.5 Table A of Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting “A14” in Column 5 of the entry for Australian Film Television and Radio School – Council.

2.6 Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following clause after Clause A13 as follows. A14: Australian Film Television and Radio School: A member who is appointed Chair of the Academic Board is entitled to receive an additional fee of $11,500 per annum, effective from 30 January 2017. The Chair of the Australian Film Television and Radio School is not entitled to this additional fee.

2.7 Table B3 of Schedule B of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following entry after the entry for the “Professional Services Review – Determining Authority”.

3.1 In this part, Determination Number 17 of 2016 is referred to as the Principal Determination.
