1 Name
This instrument is the Migration (IMMI 17/061: Arrangements for Applications for Bridging Visas) Instrument 2017. It may be cited as IMMI 17/061.
This instrument commences on 1 July 2017.
This instrument is made under subregulation 2.07(5) of the Regulations.
Note: A number of expressions used in this instrument are defined in the definitions section of the Act, including the following:
(a) approved form
(b) bridging visa
(c) substantive visa
(d) visa
In this instrument:
Regulations means the Migration Regulations 1994.
Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.
Part 2 – Arrangements for Applications for Bridging Visas
6 Approved Forms
(1) For the following subitems of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, the table in Schedule 1 to this instrument specifies the approved forms:
(a) 1301(1) – Bridging A (Class WA);
(b) 1302(1) – Bridging B (Class WB);
(c) 1303(1) – Bridging C (Class WC);
(d) 1304(1) – Bridging D (Class WD);
(e) 1305(1) – Bridging E (Class WE); and
(f) 1306(1) – Bridging F (Class WF).
7 Place and manner for making an application
(1) For the following paragraphs of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, the required place and the required manner for making an application, is the same as the place and manner for making an application for a substantive visa of the relevant class, where the form specified in the table in Schedule 1 to this Instrument is also the form for making the substantive visa application:
(a) 1301(3)(a) – Bridging A (Class WA);
(b) 1302(3)(a) – Bridging B (Class WB);
(c) 1303(3)(a) – Bridging C (Class WC);
(d) 1304(3)(a) – Bridging D (Class WD);
(e) 1305(3)(a) – Bridging E (Class WE); and
(f) 1306(3)(a) – Bridging F (Class WF).
(2) For the following paragraphs of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, in circumstances other than those specified in subparagraph 7(1) of this Instrument, the application must be made at an office of immigration in Australia, but not in immigration clearance:
(a) 1301(3)(a) – Bridging A (Class WA);
(b) 1302(3)(a) – Bridging B (Class WB);
(c) 1303(3)(a) – Bridging C (Class WC);
(d) 1304(3)(a) – Bridging D (Class WD);
(e) 1305(3)(a) – Bridging E (Class WE); and
(f) 1306(3)(a) – Bridging F (Class WF).
8 Place and manner for making Bridging Visa E (Class WE) applications made on paper forms 1005 and 1008
(1) For paragraph 1305(3)(a) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, applications for a Bridging E (Class WE) visa made on paper forms 1005 and 1008 may be made by email to:
(a) BVEapplication.WA@border.gov.au;

(d) BVEapplication.VIC@border.gov.au;

(2) For paragraph 1305(3)(a) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations, applications for a Bridging E (Class WE) visa made on paper forms 1005 and 1008 must not be made by fax.
