Parliamentary Business Resources (Former Prime Ministers) Determination 2017

 

1  Name

  This is the Parliamentary Business Resources (Former Prime Ministers) Amendment Determination 2018 (No. 2).

2  Commencement

  This instrument commences on the day after it is registered.

3  Authority

  This instrument is made under section 16 of the Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017.

4  Schedule

  Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1Amendments

 

Parliamentary Business Resources (Former Prime Ministers) Determination 2017

 

1  Subsection 4(1)

Insert:

 international travel expenses has the same meaning as in section 35 of the Regulations as if it applied to former Prime Ministers.

 Regulations means the Parliamentary Business Resources Regulations 2017.

 

2  Limited renumbering of Schedule—The Hon Malcolm Bligh Turnbull

 (1)        In this item:

Schedule means Schedule—The Hon Malcolm Bligh Turnbull in the Parliamentary Business Resources (Former Prime Ministers) Determination 2017.

(2)        The items of the Schedule are renumbered so that they bear consecutive Arabic numerals starting with “1”.

A former Prime Minister and an accompanying spouse or de facto partner has access to international travel expenses necessary for the travel when undertaking international travel approved by the Prime Minister.

 

If the Prime Minister approves international travel for the former Prime Minister, the Prime Minister is taken to have approved travel by one staff member accompanying the former Prime Minister.

a)       As approved by the Prime Minister in writing from time to time

b)       A spouse or de facto partner must have the express approval of the Prime Minister to accompany the former Prime Minister
