Therapeutic Goods Order No.82 – Standard for Tampons - Menstrual
(1) This instrument is the Therapeutic Goods (Standard for Tampons) (TGO 103) Order 2019.
(2) This instrument may also be cited as TGO 103.
(1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

This instrument is made under section 10 of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.
Note: A number of expressions used in this instrument are defined in subsection 3(1) of the Act, including the following:
(a) label;
(b) sponsor;
(c) therapeutic goods.
In this instrument:
Act means the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.
Australian Standard means the Australian Standard AS 2869-2008 Tampons-Menstrual, published by, or on behalf of, Standards Australia, as in force or existing immediately before the commencement of this instrument.
Note: The Australian Standard is published on the SAI Global Limited website.
tampons means therapeutic goods that are menstrual tampons.
This instrument constitutes a standard for tampons.
The requirements in relation to tampons are:
(a) those requirements specified in the Australian Standard; and
(b) the requirement that the label of the tampons must include the name and address of the manufacturer or sponsor of the tampons.
Each instrument that is specified in Schedule 1 to this instrument is repealed as set out in the applicable items in that Schedule.
