1  Name

  This instrument is the Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Amendment (Home Affairs Measures No. 1) Regulations 2020.

2  Commencement

 (1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Support to communities affected by bushfires—payments for children

To provide, as child endowment or family allowances within the meaning of paragraph 51(xxiiiA) of the Constitution, oneoff payments in relation to bushfires to:

(a) persons who are eligible, in relation to the bushfires, for an amount of Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment under the Social Security Act 1991 that includes the child rate; and

(b) citizens of New Zealand who hold special category visas and who are eligible, in relation to the bushfires, for Commonwealth exgratia assistance that includes an amount in respect of a child or children.
