Schedule 1—Modifications of the Social Security Act 1991
This instrument is the Social Security (Coronavirus Economic Response—2020 Measures No. 3) Determination 2020.
(1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

This instrument is made under item 40A of Schedule 11 to the Coronavirus Economic Response Package Omnibus Act 2020.
Each modification of the operation of a provision of a social security law (within the meaning of the Social Security Act 1991) as set out in a Schedule to this instrument is determined for the purposes of item 40A of Schedule 11 to the Coronavirus Economic Response Package Omnibus Act 2020.
Schedule 1—Modifications of the Social Security Act 1991
1 Variation of Part 3.19
Part 3.19 of the Social Security Act 1991 is varied by adding the following section at the end of the Part:
1210C Additional amount for first instalment of social security payment in certain circumstances
If:
(a) a person is qualified for a social security payment in respect of 25 March 2020; and
(b) the person is so qualified, or the social security payment is payable to the person, on that day because of:
(i) the amendments made by Schedule 11 to the Coronavirus Economic Response Package Omnibus Act 2020; or
(ii) the variations to the social security law made by Social Security (Coronavirus Economic Response—2020 Measures No. 1) Determination 2020; and
(c) the person is to receive an amount (the subject amount) of the social security payment in respect of that day;
then the amount of the social security payment the person is to receive in respect of the instalment period including 25 March 2020 is to be increased by an amount equal to twice the subject amount.
