This instrument is the Poisons Standard Amendment (Boric Acid and Picramic Acid) Instrument 2021.
(1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

This instrument is made under paragraph 52D(2)(a) of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.
Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.
Poisons Standard February 2021
1 Schedule 5 of Part 4 of Schedule 1 (entry for boric acid)
Repeal the entry, substitute:
BORIC ACID except:
a) when included in Schedule 4; or
b) in cosmetic hand cleaning preparations when labelled with a warning to the following effect:
NOT TO BE USED FOR CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OF AGE; and if the concentration of free soluble borates exceeds 1.5 per cent (as boric acid), with the words: NOT TO BE USED ON PEELING OR IRRITATED SKIN; or
c) in cosmetic talc preparations containing 5 per cent or less calculated as boric acid when labelled with a warning to the following effect:
NOT TO BE USED FOR CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OF AGE; and if the concentration of free soluble borates exceeds 1.5 per cent (as boric acid), with the words: NOT TO BE USED ON PEELING OR IRRITATED SKIN; or
d) in cosmetic oral hygiene preparations containing 0.1 per cent or less calculated as boric acid when labelled with a warning to the following effect:
NOT TO BE SWALLOWED. NOT TO BE USED FOR CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OF AGE; or
e) in other cosmetic preparations containing 3 per cent or less calculated as boric acid when labelled with a warning to the following effect:
NOT TO BE USED FOR CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OF AGE; and if the concentration of free soluble borates exceeds 1.5 per cent (as boric acid), with the words: NOT TO BE USED ON PEELING OR IRRITATED SKIN; or
f) in preparations, other than insect baits, containing 6 per cent or less calculated as boric acid.

Insert:
