The Repatriation Commission: (a) under subsection 117(8) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 (the VEA) makes the variations to the Veterans’ Children Education Scheme (Instrument 2015 No. R43) set out in Schedule 1; and (b) under subsection 115B(8) of the VEA, makes the variations to the Veterans’ Vocational Rehabilitation Scheme (Instrument 2015 No. R11) in Schedule 2; and (c) under subsections 58A(3C) and 121(5C) of the VEA, makes the variations to the Veterans’ Entitlements (Weekly Payments – Class of Persons) Instrument 2021 (Instrument 2021 No. R3) set out in Schedule 3; and (d) under subsection 122B(5) of the VEA, makes the variations to the Veterans' Entitlements (Direct Deductions Arrangements) Instrument 2015 (Instrument 2015 No. R23) set out in Schedule 4. 1 Name

This instrument is the Veterans’ Entitlements Legislative Instruments Omnibus Variation Determination 2022.

2 Commencement

This instrument commences on the day after it is registered.

Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is varied or amended as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

1 Paragraph 1.2.2 (definition of disability pension)

Repeal the definition.

2 Paragraph 3A.10.1(1)(e)

Omit “disability pension”, substitute “a pension payable under Part II or IV of the VEA at a rate determined under or by reference to Division 4 of Part II of the VEA”.

Insert:

disability compensation payment means either or both of the following:

(a) a pension under Part II or IV of the VEA (other than a pension that is payable at a rate determined under section 30 to a dependant of a deceased veteran);

(b) a pension payable because of subsection 4(6) or (8B) of the Veterans’ Entitlements (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 1986 (other than a pension payable in respect of a child).

3 Part 2, paragraph (a)

Omit the paragraph, substitute:

(a) disability compensation payment;

4 Part 2, paragraphs (j) and (k)

Repeal the paragraphs.
