Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy) Regulation 2014
This instrument is the Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy) Regulations 2024.
(1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

This instrument is made under the Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy) Act 1981.
Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.
Note 1: The Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy Collection) Act 1981 is incorporated in, and is to be read as one with, the Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy) Act 1981 (see section 4 of that Act).
Note 2: A number of expressions used in this instrument are defined in the Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy Collection) Act 1981, including the following:
(a) quarter;
(b) ship;
(c) tonnage.
In this instrument:
Act means the Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy) Act 1981.
For the purposes of section 6 of the Act, the rate of levy in respect of a ship for a quarter commencing on or after 1 October 2024 is 11.25 cents per ton of the tonnage of the ship.
For the purposes of section 7 of the Act, the amount for a quarter commencing on or after 1 October 2024 is $10.
