Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Regulations 1997
This instrument is the Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Amendment (Home Affairs Measures No. 4) Regulations 2024.
(1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

This instrument is made under the Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Act 1997.

690 | Modernised Multicultural Grants Program | To support multicultural Australia and multicultural communities by funding the following: (a) grassroots multicultural organisations to engage in capacity building activities, including festivals, celebrations, small amenity upgrades and community programs; (b) peak bodies to engage in activities directed to strengthening Australia’s multicultural capacity through: (i) promoting inclusive and respectful communities; and (ii) promoting the value of immigration, multiculturalism and Australian citizenship; and (iii) strengthening understanding of Australian values and civic responsibilities. This objective has the effect it would have if it were limited to measures: (a) to give effect to Australia’s obligations under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, particularly Articles 2 and 7; or (b) that are peculiarly adapted to the government of a nation and cannot otherwise be carried on for the benefit of the nation. |
691 | Protecting migrant workers—information and education package | To safeguard temporary migrant workers from workplace exploitation and enhance the integrity of Australia’s visa system by: (a) designing information and educational materials on migrant worker rights, protections and obligations and migration compliance measures; and (b) disseminating these information and educational materials to temporary migrant workers and their employers; and (c) supporting non‑government organisations to provide services and other supports to temporary migrant workers and their employers in relation to migrant worker rights, protections and obligations and migration compliance measures. |
