Schedule 1—Amendments
Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Regulations 1997
This instrument is the Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Amendment (Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts Measures No. 5) Regulations 2024.
(1) Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

This instrument is made under the Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Act 1997.
Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.
Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Regulations 1997
1 Part 4 of Schedule 1AB (cell at table item 678, column headed “Objective(s)”)
Repeal the cell, substitute:
To develop the digital ability and online safety of First Nations Australians in the use of a service by providing funding: (a) to establish services to provide general digital support and to support digital ability and connectivity literacy; and (b) to develop culturally and linguistically appropriate resources and learning materials for the benefit of First Nations Australians; and (c) to engage and maintain digital mentors to: (i) support First Nations Australians with internet connectivity and the use of devices for communication; and (ii) support First Nations Australians to understand and use online services; and (iii) increase awareness amongst First Nations Australians of online risks and mitigation measures; as a measure with respect to postal, telegraphic, telephonic, and other like services (within the meaning of paragraph 51(v) of the Constitution). |
2 In the appropriate position in Part 4 of Schedule 1AB (table)
Insert:
685 | Supporting Australian Associated Press | To support the core postal, digital and other like services of the Australian Associated Press, including: (a) a wholesale newswire service to provide public interest news content to news media publications; and (b) fact‑check services that assist digital platforms to address disinformation and misinformation online by assessing the accuracy of content posted by third parties on social media platforms; and (c) a cadetship program to train aspiring journalists. |
